SANDAL INFORMATION

The PT (Pah Tempe) sandal was designed to perform better in water and steep terrain Than the traditional huarache. The PT was the first minimal sandal without a strap between the toes. This sandal is perfect for steep and technical terrain, and situations where lateral movement is required. It is also perfect for those who don't like anything between their toes. Although the strap goes over the toes, it is designed to allow the toes to splay as needed. It features a 6 or 8mm ultra lightweight sole.

PT Tread:
We have just switched new soles. The new tread is just as agressive as our old tread but it is also multi-directional so you get good traction from all directions.

Cork Footbed:
The cork footbed is made with ground cork mixed with EVA faom. It is good for wet conditions. For some people, contact with raw rubber can cause a reaction which increases sweat. Cork footbeds can decrease sweat and odor issues. It adds about 3mm of thickness and thus slightly decreases flexibility.

Over time all soles will compress slightly and mold to the feet.

Sizing FAQ

How close should the strap attachment marks from the template be to my foot?
There are marks on each sole template to indicate where the straps will be attached. Because the typical foot is curved where these straps attach, it may look like your foot is closer to these attachment points than it actually is. The best method to see how close it is, is to trace your foot on the template at a very steep inward angle. This will show you were the bottom of your foot makes contact with the sole itself. The weight of your foot should not cover these strap attachment markings. If you want a very snug fit, your feet should be as close to the straps as possible. If you want a slightly more roomy fit, then you will want a small amount of space between the your foot and the markings.

How much room should I leave between my toes and the edge of the template?
The final sole shape of your sandal will be the same as the template (although there may be some very slight variations). The amount of excess sole is ultimately up to your own personal preference. However, we recommend that your toes are comfortably positioned within the sole outline and that there is not more than an inch of space in front of your toes. Too much excess sole can cause the front of the sole to catch and cause tripping.

How close should my heel be to the back of the template?
Your heel should be close to the back edge of the template without it coming off the edge. As you look down at your heel, you should see no more than a half inch of extra sole. If you set your foot too far forward then your foot will slide back and rest against the heel strap and there will be too much excess sole material in front of your toes.

I have a commonly shaped foot and I don't want to bother with printing templates. Can I get a standard size?
Yes, under the template and toe strap number drop down menus you have the option to choose "STANDARD". We will construct your sandal with the most common template and toe strap number.
