Keota

I was looking for a minimalist sandal that was easy to slip on and off, and Unshoes came through in that regard with flying colors. The elastic ring is the key. This way, I can get my straps dialed in and not worry about it being too tight, too difficult to take off or put on the sandal. I have done a few mellower hikes in the Keotas, nothing extreme, but they've handled great. There are obviously far more technical sandals, but I'm starting with these. I currently live in Costa Rica, so harder hikes will be steep and muddy and will require different sandals (or shoes) and hiking poles or sticks, and the understanding that one occasionally will fall on one's butt. For a climb up to Montserrat in my neighborhood, though, walk around the barrio, or a mellow trail? Perfect. Looking forward to enjoying lots of use in these things.

Oh, and as a bonus, when I took them to a (USA) beach, I really didn't get a lot of sand between the sole of my feet and the sandal. I'm sure it's possible to do that, but also possible to dodge it.
